. | WOOD MOSACIS Portland, Oregon all rights reserved This painting was a commission for Hampton Lumber as part of a program called "Corporate Waste Into Art" sponsored by Cracked Pots, an art from recycling organization. Instead of painting on canvas or flat boards she sliced the ends of 2 x 4’s and 2 x 6’s and used the wooden wafers like mosaic tiles. She sliced the ends of the lumber like you would slice salami to reveal the grain and then glued the “salami” on to a backing board. She further intensified the patterning by rubbing thin paint into some of the slices. Others she painted with opaque color. |
