RAIN MAKES THE GRASS GROW ...and everything else Window Installation Art in Rural Storefronts Bonnie Meltzer was selected by the Corvallis Art Center and the city of Brownsville to create a window installation as part of the Art in Rural Storefronts program. ........../
The girl is made out of recycled, undrilled, circuit board copper with minimal details. |
..........
Detail of the grass component of the installation on the left shows the woven and crocheted wool and the heddles used as blades of grass. Both give homage to the Brownsville Woolen Mill. Heddles are the part of a loom through which the yarn gets threaded. On the right is a detail of the many materials used in weaving and crocheting the umbrella. |
From the inside of the store. The owner requested that the installation did not block all the light coming into the store and that it would be inviting from the inside as well as from the outside.

3 DOWN, 3 TO GO found objects, paint, maps, fabric, beads, glitter, crocheted wire variable configurations and sizes, painting 46" diameter A title change and additional collage elements were made for the January 2014 University of Portland exhibition to reflect the three eliminated train routes out of the 6 original proposals for coal terminals in the Northwest. The text collaged along the eliminated routes are the reasons for the withdrawal of the applications . As of September 2014 the permit was denied for the 4th proposal but that coal company has sued the state of Oregon. The two other proposals are in the midst of the permitting process. See the original 2012 window to the left. The installation can be hung in many environments and configurations to fit a space. It is available for exhibit and purchase. |

COMPUTER QUILTS floppy disks and other computer parts, beads on screen window installation 2005 A quilt exhibition was inside the gallery. This installation was made for the window to complement the quilts inside. The floppy disks became the design blocks, corresponding to fabric blocks used in fabric quilting. Screening is a woven fabric but made with wire instead of yarn. |
